Jacinto Gonzalez (he/him) is an author, illustrator, and librarian whose work bridges folklore, culture, and lived experience. Originally from Hayward, California, and raised in Chicago, he brings his perspective of a first generation Mexican American artist navigating disability and identity.
His stories often reflect the experience of feeling between worlds while exploring mental health, heritage, and the search for connection. Through comics and illustrated narratives, Jacinto reimagines stories as reflections of modern life, where vulnerability and strength coexist. His background in librarianship shapes his creative practice: accessible, empathetic, and rooted in storytelling as a shared human experience.

Jacinto Gonzalez (he/him) is an author, illustrator, and librarian based in Will County, Illinois. He was born in Hayward, California, and raised in Chicago, he tells stories inspired by Mexican culture, mythology, and the everyday experiences that shape identity and belonging. As the son of Mexican immigrants and someone living with Charcot–Marie–Tooth (CMT) disease, Jacinto explores what it means to exist between worlds and overcoming barriers.
Jacinto earned his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and his Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media & Design from DeVry University. His background in both creative media and librarianship shape his approach to storytelling.
He has been creating comics since 2014, developing a voice that blends humor and personal truth. His first graphic novel was successfully funded through Kickstarter, launching his journey as an independent author and illustrator dedicated to talking about mental health, identity, and resilience.
Today, Jacinto continues to craft stories inspired by his life while exploring how our ancestors stories mirror our struggles, triumphs, and transformations. When he’s not writing or illustrating, he works in libraries, helping others discover their own creative voices.
Jacinto lives in Will County, Illinois, with his wife and their daughter, whose curiosity and laughter continue to inspire his storytelling.
